Recognition from the Government of Catalonia to the Mancomunidad Taula del Sénia and the Territori Sénia Association
On Monday, 16 March 2026, in Barcelona, Òscar Ordeig, Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Catalonia, presided over the presentation of the 2nd Guide to the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia, where he stated: “we aim to become a global benchmark in the production of extra virgin olive oils from Catalonia.”

The guide includes 158 references to the best extra virgin olive oils from the 2025–2026 harvest, selected by the Official Tasting Panel for Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia, with the collaboration of IRTA. These include all the award-winning oils from the 2nd National Awards for the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia, as well as those that scored over 80 points in both stages of the competition.
In addition to the presentation of the guide, recognition was given to the following five entities and individuals for their contribution to promoting extra virgin olive oil in Catalonia:
• Mancomunidad Taula del Sénia and the Territori Sénia Association, for promoting the Farga brand, which balances the preservation of millenary olive trees with economic viability and the identity of the rural world.
• Les Moles Restaurant, a pioneer since 2007 in oil texturisation, with its own plantation and a dedicated menu featuring various EVOO varieties.
• The other three recognitions were awarded to Benet Restaurant and Café Terrall (both from Les Borges Blanques), and to Barcelona Gourmand (located at Barcelona-El Prat Airport).

On behalf of the Mancomunidad and the Association, the recognition was received by Tere Adell, Manager, who highlighted that the work carried out by both entities to preserve and promote the millenary olive trees of the Sénia Territory has been made possible, firstly thanks to the efforts of all the landowners who have preserved them for centuries, and now also thanks to the owners and companies who contribute to their ongoing valorisation.
In addition to Tere Adell and Jeroni Castell, who collected the awards, the event was also attended by Eva Cabanes (from the company Miliunverd, based in La Sénia) and Lluís Cardona (President of the Olis de Santa Bàrbara Cooperative), both featured in the guide with several high-quality oils.
