Prize European Heritage Stories 2018 to MILLENARY OLIVE TREES OF THE SÉNIA TERRITORY (10/2018)

2018 was the European year of cultural heritage and, for this reason, together the Council of Europe and the European Commission organized the Prize European Heritage Stories among the 50 countries that signed the European Cultural Convention.

The call was opened to European entities and associations that during the last years organize activities within the European Heritage Days and also to those who have obtained the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards. Upon fulfilling the two requirements, the Commonwealth of the Taula del Sénia presented last May the story "Millenary olive trees of the Sénia Territory".

Among the 69 stories presented, a Jury chose the 10 best stories that, in addition to the recognition at European level, were awarded 10.000 € each, one of them being presented by the Taula del Sénia Commonwealth. For this reason and on the occasion of the annual Assembly of the European Heritage Days, held in Strasbourg on 17-18 October 2018, the Mancomunidad Taula del Sénia was invited to participate.

The manager of the Mancomunidad of the Taula del Sénia, M. Teresa Adell, received the prize from Matjaz Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation, and Jelena Mocevic, responsible for the European Heritage Days, both of the Council of Europe.
