The Cabriel route takes you through two very different kinds of forest: a gallery forest (well-preserved along this stretch of the Cabriel river) and a forest of Mediterranean pine and shrub of the kind typically found in these mountains.
"Racó del Frare" Municipal Nature Reserve is located in the region of Baix Maestrat (Castellón). It has an area of 207.32 ha and occupies part of the town of Sant Mateu.
"Sierra de las Aguilas y San Pascual" Municipal Nature Reserve is located in the town of Monforte del Cid (Alicante). These two enclaves occupy a total area of 384.06 ha and are delimited by a large agricultural area and the Bética mountain range.
"Rambla Celumbres" Municipal Nature Reserve is located where the towns of Castellfort, Cinctorres and Portell de Morella converge in the region of Els Ports (Castellón). It occupies a total area of 1,194.40 ha and is characterised as an area of special interest, both for its ecological and scenic value, as well as its historical and cultural heritage.
"Nacimiento del Río Tuéjar" Nature Reserve is located in the town of Tuéjar in the province of Valencia. It occupies an area of 600 ha. and is characterised by a deep valley close to the Sierra de Javalambre mountain range, carved by the famous river that gives it its name.
"Los Calderones" Municipal Nature Reserve is located in the town of Chulilla, specifically in the region of Los Serranos (Valencia), comprising an area of 538.05 ha.
Its landscape is characterised by its spectacular geological formations, such as the Hoces of the Turia River and the surrounding mountains. The erosion from the current of this river as it passes through Chulilla has created a deep gorge with vertical walls which has become a splendid canyon after many years.
"Pilarica-Sierra de Callosa" Municipal Nature Reserve is located in the town of Callosa de Segura (Alicante) and has an area of 143.44 ha. The most characteristic element of this landscape is the Sierra de Callosa, an impressive limestone mass that rises to a height of 578 m in the middle of an extensive plain.
Clot de Galvany Municipal Nature Reserve is located in the town of Elche in the province of Alicante. It comprises an area of 355.84 ha and owes its name to a natural pond that forms part of this magnificent wetland located on Elche’s coast.
It is characterised by the great diversity of environments that shapes a set of unique landscapes; from the wetland to the mountains and hills that surround it. Moreover, it has a dune system facing the coast with more than 5 km of beaches.
Turia Natural Park is a valuable Mediterranean lithophytic forest located on the plains of the Turia River. It has a total area of 4,692 ha, which extends for 35 km through the regions of L'Horta, El Camp de Túria and Los Serranos.
