The Royal Monastery of La Santísima Trinidad in Valencia is an old monastery site that is still being used for its original purpose today. It was founded by Queen María of Castile, the wife of King Alfonso V "El Magnánimo" (The Magnanimous).

Built on the site of an old mosque, the church of San Esteban has the typical layout of Valencia's Gothic period parish churches, with a single nave and chapels between the buttresses. However, the church underwent major Baroque style alterations during the 17th century. Its outward appearance is very plain, featuring buttresses topped by gargoyles that jut out from the smooth wall, a simple doorway leading onto Plaza de San Esteban and the bell tower standing alongside.

Artist Juan Bautista Martínez Beneyto was born on 29 May 1922 in the Valencian town of Massamagrell and died on 31 August 2013 at the age of 92. He had a long career as a landscape and portrait artist as well as a teacher in a number of Spanish institutions.
